Tendonitis Q & A
Tendinitis is inflammation or irritation of a tendon. Tendons are the thick fibrous cords that attach muscle to bone. This condition causes pain and tenderness just outside a joint. Tendonitis can affect all ages. Although, you become more susceptible as you get older because your tendons are less flexible and more prone to injury.
While tendinitis can occur in any of your tendons, it's most common around your shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and heels.
Some common types of tendinitis are:
- Tennis elbow
- Golfer's elbow
- Pitcher's shoulder
- Swimmer's shoulder
- Jumper's knee
Tendonitis can be treated by reducing the inflammation. At Genesis Integrative Medicine we provide minimally invasive treatments to relieve pain, promote healing, rehabilitate, and prevent future injuries.
One of the most effective and more recent state-of-the-art treatments for tendonitis is platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.
